Every year in alignment with the Home Opener Monarch Softball Game vs Millard West a non-profit charity is chosen to support. This year the game is scheduled at home on Saturday August 18th and we have chosen the FAST (Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics) organization. FAST is an organization that supports the mission to cure Angelman syndrome. Angelman syndrome (AS) is a rare neurogenetic disorder that affects approximately one in 15,000 people. Children and adults with AS typically have balance issues, motor impairment and debilitating seizures. Some individual never walk. Most do not speak. This organization hits close to home as Papillion LaVista has had and currently has kids that are in the district who are affected by this syndrome. We are planning on having one of those kids and her parents at the game to speak to how it has personally affected their lives. Delaney attends Papillion LaVista and will be a senior this year at the high school and is a friend to some of the girls on the softball team. To learn more about this syndrome here is the link to the FAST website: https://cureangelman.org/. As always we look forward to the home opener and are honored to be able to support such a great cause!
